Sarasotans have long known there is something special about the sand at Siesta Key, whether it's the perfect white color, the cool-to-the-touch feel, or the soft powdery texture. Siesta Key was busy weekend for the Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition on Siesta Beach. Master sculptors and local sculptors shape fabulous creations. The featured centerpiece is a 6-foot-tall, 300-ton sand masterpiece with the logos of the event sponsors.
Thursday, November 18 is the kickoff day for the Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition that will run through Sunday, Nov. 21.
$18,000 of price money was up for grabs by eleven teams of two sculptors competing. This Siesta Key event includes live music, hands-on sand sculpting classes, and an amateur sand sculpting competition. There was also a vendor village for local businesses.
Mote’s Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program will receive the proceeds for the sand sculpture competition.

Volleyball Vacations/ Go Beach Feast (November 7-14, 2010)
This was my second year going to Turks & Caicos for Volleyball Vacations and I can’t wait to make it my third! If you’re looking to meet active adults with a passion for sports, health, travel, late night dance moves and the ever so often SOCIAL, I seriously hope you consider Volleyball Vacations. On a serious note I have never coached a group of athletes with such a special spirit and passion for the game. Waboba was captured in some awesome island pictures!

Ranse Jones Beach Volleyball Classic
Live simple, play hard….. Ranse Jones
That is the philosophy that 34-year-old beach volleyball player Ranse Jones lived his life by and is the message inscribed on the championship trophy that bears his name. As many of you already know, long time beach volleyball player Ranse Jones suffered a brain aneurism and passed away after a long fight. I ask you not to think of his death but instead of the immense power of friendship and family elicited from one inspiring man.
The beach volleyball community got together at Deerfield Beach November 6th and 7th to put on the inaugural Ranse Jones Beach Volleyball Classic. The two-day charity event drew more than 1,000 spectators and players. Players from across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico came back as a sign of respect and love for a special player. The top women's player in the world, Misty May-Treanor, played on Saturday and was accompanied by her husband, Matt Treanor, the former Florida Marlin and current Texas Rangers' catcher. Along with Misty volleyball star Nick Lucena a top men’s player competed with tournament co-director Gino Ferraro.
The weekend tournament was a tremendous success, and the gathering of friends, family and the beach volleyball community was something that Jones would have been thrilled with. The tournament raised over $30,000 with all proceeds going to his medical needs. “Over the years, Ranse has left his sandy footprints on our hearts and for that, we are forever changed and so blessed.” Barbare Jones
Special Thanks: Dig The Beach Tour ( Chris Colgan) Florida Beach Volleyball Tour ( Gino Farraro) East End Tour ( Rich Heiles) Waboba, SpikeKey Beach, Fire Dog, Foot Volley, Mr. Farris and many more..
